Snake encounters at school

Snake encounters at school are a speciality of ours, we can do each class throughout the day by bringing 12/16 snakes, each class would be introduced to between 4 and 6 snakes of differing breeds which may also come from different parts of the world. We bring extra snakes because they do get hot and tired of being handled all day by lots of hot, sticky hands so we bring enough snakes to change them around throughout the day.

The longer the sessions the more information we can impart to the children, for instance we do like to explain to the children what to expect when handling snakes and important information on how snakes sense their world – so very differently to mammals.

If we have an hour with the children I like to show them pictures of our indigenous varieties of snake of which there are three types, many children watch TV programs and think that we have pythons, anacondas and cobras living here in the UK in the wild!!

These photos are of a couple of teachers from Risely Avenue Primary School,   London N 17  – enjoying the company of one of my Royal Pythons.
