We visited Brownies Holiday camp at Chigwell Row; we entertained and educated everyone with the snakes on Monday8th April. Meeting the snakes from the sanctuary can provide a means to aquiring the “scouts animal friend badge”.
As usual the Brownies soon overcome any fears they had about snakes and everyone had a great time interacting with them. We always run a short educational talk before bringing the snakes out of their bags and baskets. The talk attempts to allay any fears about venomous snakes and the possibility of snakes biting anyone, we don’t keep any venomous snakes at the sanctuary and it would be rather reckless to take such snakes out to meet the public, all of the snakes that we take out are very used to being held and stroked by people as a subsequence the snakes that we take out to meet the public are not afraid of people and do not think that they are going to get hurt, animals usually attack out of fear.
