Another successful Phobia Busting – fear of snakes session. These two ladies were going on a charity fundraiser – camping in the Grand Canyon and were worried that they may meet snakes, they both had a phobia of snakes, especially the lady in the flowery top. I did tell them that wild snakes were nothing like snakes kept in captivity as wild snakes would be rather frightened of humans but they could possible wander near at night for the warmth. They left with a better understanding of snakes and as you can see by the photos they got over their fears enough to hold my two albino pythons Rosie and Bou.
Snakes kept in captivity and handled often are not afraid of humans so do not react with a fear response of hissing and/or striking out at you. As always with any animal whose language i.e. sounds and/or movement we don’t understand we should give them the respect that they deserve and stay well clear so that we don’t scare them.
